Attempted Murder Suspect From Bergen County Caught After NYC Standoff
A Bergen County man wanted in the shooting of a woman in May was captured Monday after a standoff in New York City, prosecutors said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 22-year-old Bergenfield man was captured Monday following a brief standoff with police in New York City, two months after he allegedly shot a woman in his hometown.
Aaron Sierra, 22, was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun, receiving stolen property and obstruction of justice by flight, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutors say that on Sunday, May 21, around 6:50 p.m., the Bergenfield Police Department
responded to a report of shots fired within a private residence.

First responders discovered a 20-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds, prosecutors said.
She was transported to an area hospital and was in stable condition.

The Record reported in May that the pair had been dating, and noted that a manhunt was on for Sierra.
Sierra was located in New York City following an investigation by Bergen County detectives, prosecutors said, "and, after a brief standoff, taken into custody by the New York City Police Department Emergency Services Unit. Sierra was subsequently transported to an area hospital and remains hospitalized."
Upon his release from the hospital, he will be remanded to the New York City Department of Corrections pending extradition to Bergen County for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella thanked the Bergenfield Police Department and the New York City Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
