Sheriff's office will use $25,000 from state Attorney General's Office to purchase the cameras.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office will receive $50,000 to purchase 25 body cameras for officers.

The money is part of $2.5 million the state Attorney General’s Office allocated for law enforcement agencies throughout the state to purchase body cameras. The allocations were announced Monday.

“The awards — made with criminal forfeiture funds — will put New Jersey in the forefront in the U.S. in embracing this technology to promote transparency, mutual accountability, and trust between police and the community,” said Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman.
