Bergen Democratic Freeholder Incumbents Reelected
Win by Steven Tanelli, Tracy Silna Zur, and Thomas Sullivan guarantee Democrats will control county government for at least two more years.

Democrats swept the Bergen County freeholder election Tuesday, guaranteeing the party will control the county government for at least the next two years.
The results from Tuesday’s election were:

Republicans
John D. Mitchell: 50,805

Kenneth P. Tyburczy: 48,879
Democrats
Steven A. Tanelli: 63,059
Tracy Silna Zur: 63,114
Richard A. Siegel received 4,085 votes.
One-year unexpired term:
Republican
Daisy Ortiz-Berger: 45,748
Democrat
Thomas J. Sullivan: 62,746
Libertarian
Peter J. Rohrman: 4,496
The unexpired term was created when former Freeholder James Tedesco resigned to become County Executive.
The win means the Democrats will have a 5-2 majority on the board. The two incumbent Republicans are up for re-election next year.
