UPDATE: False Alarm Clears Edgewater Cinemas

According to scanner reports, the threat reportedly cleared the movie complex on Saturday night.

A false alarm initially reported as a bomb threat cleared a Bergen County movie complex on Saturday night.

According to scanner reports, a bomb threat cleared the Edgewater Cinemas shortly after 9 p.m. and the Bergen County bomb squad responded.

NJ.com reported the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the bomb squad found no explosives.

Edgewater Mayor Michael McPartland told CBS2 that someone fell in the theater and a noise was mistaken for a bullet being fired. He noted residents are “on edge” after the Paris attacks.

“We heard that there were shots fired when we looked at the lobby all you saw was popcorn thrown all over the place,” Instagram user Jenny Abreu posted on Instagram.
