This Spring and Summer Conventional Style May Be Misleading

Since 1974, Sal Lauretta for Men has been creating custom-fitted men's clothing in the classic European tradition.

With spring finally arriving after a winter that may or may not have overstayed its welcome, it’s remarkable to see how quickly everyone’s moods improve with some warmth and sunshine.  As we all venture out to take advantage of this newfound warmth, we need to keep in mind that as the seasons change, so do the hottest fashion trends.  With some great advice and the initiative to look the best you can, you’ll be wowing everyone you pass all spring and summer long.

When it comes to professional dress the rule of thumb has always been to play it safe, take the conservative route, and you’ll still look great.  The rule still holds true today, but by changing a few little things you have the opportunity to turn the usual into the new standard.  With the evolution of styles and trends you don’t want to go too overboard, bottom line is to keep it simple while bringing your outfit to life.  One of the biggest movements today is to combine a print tie with that solid suit and shirt; all together you’re drawing the perfect kind of attention.

Now the trends don’t only favor changing the little things, why not fight back against the general rule of thumb and go for that suit that’s on the lighter side of gray.  The latest fashion trends across the board show that lighter and brighter are the most visually appealing of the season.  Speaking of lighter and brighter, if you choose to give that lighter grey suit a shot, you should pair it up with a bright shirt that truly pops.  Making yourself stand out in the crowd is the best decision you could make, you want to be recognized for your great fashion sense.

One of the largest trends that are sweeping the fashion world is that loafers, which used to be reserved for weekend and more casual occasions, have taken a seat at the professional dress table.  Many publications are even saying that this is “the shoe of the season”, saying that being comfortable and looking great in the office is no longer a thing of the past.

Although not a new or surprising trend, white will always be a popular choice for the spring season.  There’s just something about that clean and crisp look all white gives off that is simply irresistible.  Of course the recommendation to go all white comes with one caveat, be aware of what you’re eating and your surroundings, it’ll have a chance to leave an impact on your outfit of choice.

When it comes to those outfit accessories the newest trends continue to buck the logic of the past.  You should give the fedoras and porkpies a breather and try out bigger and wider brim hats.  You should even check out some of the hottest sunglasses of the season to pull everything together, with the wayfarer continuing to be a fan favorite.  One of the accessories that doesn’t appear to buck the trend is the added style value a watch provides.  Everyone would love to have one of the best watches known to man, but the reality is that there are a ton of great watch options for a fraction of the price.

Regardless of what fashion direction you intend to pursue for the upcoming seasons always remember, keep it simple.  Although bright colors and getting creative is the newest style and trend, don’t outsmart yourself by trying to do too much.  If you love the way you look, your confidence will be contagious and more often than not other people are going to take notice.
