Will the Valley expansion make emergency room visits cost $10,000?

Recently we heard about two simple emergency room visits at other local hospitals that cost more than $10,000 each.  Another $20,000 bedside visit of a cardiologist has already been all over the news.

And why not?  Why not $100,000?  Hospitals promise they will take care of you, you feel better as soon as the nurse says something nice.  You sign on the dotted line and - you may be ruined.

The expansion of Valley hospital is not to serve an underserved population, it is to make the hospital more competitive.  This is very likely another way of saying they want to jack up their prices.

For the sake of the neighborhood's financial viability, say no to the expansion!
