Crash Sends Car Careening Onto School Lawn In Ridgewood, Delaying Dismissal
One person was treated for injuries after two vehicles crashed in front of a Ridgewood school, a witness said.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A two-vehicle crash in front of George Washington Middle School in Ridgewood sent one car careening onto the school lawn just before dismissal on Thursday, according to a witness.
The driver of the car on the lawn was taken to the hospital, but "No students, staff, nor faculty members were injured," according to a report. The crash occurred near the intersection of South Monroe Street and Washington Place.
Interim Principal Dr. Lauren Schoen wrote in a letter to the school community, "Today an accident occurred right outside of GWMS before dismissal. To ensure the safety of our students, we delayed dismissal by just a few minutes. After speaking with the first responders, we dismissed all students from one door."
