Memorial Day Run

• The nationally recognized 36th annual Fred d'Elia Ridgewood Run, also known as the Memorial Day Run, takes place on Monday, May 30, 2011. All-ages are welcome to participate as events vary from the beloved child-geared Fun Run/Health Walk to the men's and women's mile to the 5K (3.1 miles) and 10K (6.2 miles). There are over 3,500 participants from across the country who come to this event.  The Run/Health Walk is organized by the North Jersey Masters Track and Field Club and is sponsored by Platinum sponsor Park Avenue BMW of Maywood, and Gold Medal level sponsors Husdon City Savings Bank, the Ridgewood YMCA, and Road Runners Sports, among other sponsors and contributors. The Fun Run/Health Walk is sponsored by the Ridgewood YMCA and Valley Hospital sponsors the Elite and Master's Mile. 

There is over $6,100 in prize money to be won. Proceeds from the Memorial Day Run go to local organizations and charities like the Ridgewood Education Foundation, Social Services Association, and College Club. 

Registration for the Fun Run will begin on race day at 7:15 a.m. at Vet's Field. Registration for the 5K, 10K, elite, and master's mile must be done prior to May 30. Registration can be done many ways. It can be completed online through www.metroraceforum.com, applications can be downloaded at www.ridgewoodrun.com, or participants can fill out applications in-person at the Ridgewood YMCA located on Oak Street, The Ridgewood Running Company at 39 E. Ridgewood Avenue, or Road Runner Sport on Route 4 in Paramus. The last day to pre-register will be on May 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the YMCA.
