Glen Rock Mailbox Burglarized, Checks Stolen From Mail: Police

A woman's $2,500 mortgage check was stolen and cashed at a TD Bank branch, police said.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — A borough mailbox was burglarized and residents reported checks they mailed were stolen out of mail they deposited there last week, police said.

Officer Sarah Orsita saw at about 11:30 a.m. Nov. 12 that the mailbox in front of the Post Office on Glen Avenue was broken into, said Chief Dean Ackermann. There were possible pry marks found near the box's lock.

On Friday, a borough woman reported that her mortgage payment check for $2,503 had been stolen out of the mailbox, Ackermann said. The check was cashed at a TD Bank branch.
