Glen Rock Teacher Faints At Byrd School
Officials examining air-conditioning in schools as part of new five-year facilities plan.

A teacher fainted at Richard E. Bryd School Wednesday, Glen Rock education officials confirmed.
Superintendent Paula Valenti told the Board of Education about the fainting, said Rona McNabola, board president.
The district’s four elementary schools are not totally air-conditioned, but each have several areas that are.

Students are rotated to the air-conditioned areas, fans are used, non-air-conditioned rooms are cross-ventilate, and teachers ensure students are properly hydrated on hot days like the ones that have plagued North Jersey this week.
The board’s Operations Committee has recommended that the district’s new architect look at the “situation of air-conditioning” in creating the district’s new five-year facilities plan, McNabola said.
