Local Residents Develop Delivery Service App
Are you in the mood for Ridgewood or Glen Rock take out but don't feel like going out? There's an app for that. It's called Perc.
A group of Bergen County residents is making it easier to satisfy that craving for Dunkin Donuts’ coffee or McDonald’s.
The high school and college students developed Perc, an iOS application that lets residents order take out or something from a store. Then one of the company’s drivers delivers it. The company services Ridgewood, Glen Rock, and other Bergen County municipalities.
“It happens all the time, you just want to hang out with some friends and get some food, but you don’t feel like going out,” said Mauricio Alvarez, the company’s first driver. “We wanted to create something that makes people’s lives easier.”

Users can place an order directly from the application. The delivery fee is based on distance. The longer the distance a driver must travel, the more the fee.
“A lot of the local restaurants deliver, but some don’t, so we said ’well why not do something to change that’,” Alvarez said. “It helps the businesses and the customers.”

Users can help find someone pick up their groceries from the supermarket or prescriptions from a pharmacy, deliveries are not limited to just food orders. Users can also find people to hire to help them find a dog walker or a babysitter. The application also has a bulletin board section of local events.
The application only works with iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches for now.
