Officials Encouraging Residents To Approve Ridgewood Parking Deck

Public forum will be held Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Ridgewood officials are pushing residents to approve bonding up $15 million to construct a parking garage on the Hudson Street lot. The garage would add about an additional 300 parking spaces.

“On Nov. 3, you will have the chance to express your support for a downtown parking garage,” Ridgewood Mayor Paul Aronsohn said. “Please vote. And please encourage your friends and family to vote, too.”

There are three design options being considered. All three designs are for a four-story building with five levels of parking. Two of the designs feature taking some of the right-of-way from Hudson Street.

The first option has 236 parking spaces and a 124,000-square-foot-building. The second features 253 spaces and a 130,000-square-foot building, The third design would have 317 parking spaces and a 139,000-square-foot building.

The garage also has an open design plan to allow for natural ventilation and keep costs down.

Taxes would not have to be raised to finance the project. Parking fees from meters and the deck itself would finance the project.
