Part Of Stevens Athletic Field Burned, Police Say
Authorities warn residents of utility scam.

On Saturday, Sept. 26, a Linwood Avenue resident reported a fraudulent charge was made on his/her credit card account. The matter is under investigation by the detective bureau.
On Sunday, Sept. 27, two incidents of criminal mischief were reported in the area Meadowbrook Avenue and the Public Service Electric & Gas right of way. Both victims had parked their cars in the area while attending soccer games. While the vehicles were parked someone had scratched their exterior surfaces causing damage to the paint as well as spraying an unidentified liquid inside of them. The matter is under investigation by the detective bureau.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29 a Village resident reported that he/she fell asleep while traveling to Ridgewood on a New Jersey Transit Train. Upon awakening the victim observed that personal property that had been on the seat next to them had been taken. The incident was reported to the New Jersey Transit Police Department for follow up.
On Wednesday, Sept. 30 a cab driver from Paterson reported to police that a customer traveling from Paterson to Valley Hospital refused to pay his/her fare upon arriving at the hospital. Criminal complaints for theft of services related to the incident are pending.

On Wednesday, Sept. 30 an employee of the Ridgewood Board of Education reported vandalism at the Stevens Athletic Field. Unidentified actor/actors had intentionally burned the synthetic turf playing surface in several areas. The matter is under investigation by the detective bureau, any witness to the incidents are asked to contact the bureau at 201-251-4537.
On Wednesday Sept. 30, Patrolman Keith Killion Jr. stopped a vehicle being operated by Christian E. Dimeo, 36, of Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey. Subsequent to the stop Dimeo was issued a motor vehicle summons for careless driving and arrested on an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction.
On Wednesday September 30, 2015 a Goffle Road resident reported receiving a telephone call from a man identifying himself as an employee of Public Service Electric & Gas. The caller stated that the homeowner owed $2,000. and that his/her gas would be shut off if they did not immediately make payment utilizing a Reloadit cash card to paid to a supplied account number.
Reports of similar incidents continue to be on the rise. Be aware that Public Service Electric & Gas and other legitimate utilities do not conduct business in this manner and please spread the word of these schemes to your relatives, friends and neighbors, particularly the elderly who are often taken in by these scams.
All defendants are considered innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
