GLEN ROCK, NJ — Eight people were sent to local hospitals after they were exposed to rat poison brought into Glen Rock High School by a student on Monday morning, according to reports.

The student, five school staff members, a Glen Rock police officer, and two EMTs from the Volunteer Ambulance Corps went to two hospitals in Bergen County to be checked out, the Record of Hackensack reported.

The issue was discovered when the student went to the school nurse around 8:30 a.m. because he was having a medial reaction from a "chemical brought from home," the outlet reported.

Police and a hazmat team responded, according to video posted on Facebook.

The student went to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus for treatment, the Record said.

Reports said the chemical was Thallium, widely used as rat poison. Officials said that an investigation concluded that the student had no intention of harming anyone. Read more here.
