Under a photo of Cordero hugging his daughter, organizers wrote, "We are rallying together to support Cordero Law, a cherished member of the Clifton Public Schools community, during this heartbreaking time. Cordero recently endured the unimaginable loss of his beloved daughter, Serenity Law, who was tragically taken from us at the tender age of 15. Serenity's bright spirit illuminated the lives of those around her, and her untimely passing has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her."
The fundraiser organizers said the incident has "shaken our community to its core" and that other parents and employees are looking for ways to help Cordero and his family.
Donors had raised more than $24,000 as of Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
