Ridgewood Gas Line Replacement Project Could Cause Traffic Delays For Months

Village officials said they would be working with PSE And G to minimize traffic delays.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Public Service Electric & Gas will begin work in the village this week as part of on a $900-million project to upgrade and replace aging gas pipes.

More than 500 miles of cast iron gas main lines and 38,000 lines will be replaced in the utility's service area over the next three years, the utility said.

The work is expected to begin in Ridgewood this week, a notice on the village website said.

The work will take place on the following streets: West Glen Avenue, East Glen Avenue, Lawrence Court, Heights Road, Alpine terrace, Colwell court, Douglas Place, Park Slope, Ridge Road, Sterling Place, and Glenwood Road.

Streets may be partially or fully closed for the work to be done, depending on the situation, the notice said.

The work is scheduled to take approximately four months. The village will work with contractor J. Fletcher Creamer to minimize disruptions to residents.

Traffic control police officers will be used to help minimize disruptions and improve travel during the project.
