Ridgewood Parking Deck Options Take Center Stage Wednesday

Three options officials are considering will be presented at a meeting Wednesday.

The three options of the downtown parking garage officials are considering will be discussed at the Village Council meeting Wednesday.

Officials and members of the design team will be on hand to answer residents’ questions. The meeting will be held at the Village Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Hudson Street deck, which voters approved via a referendum earlier this month, could dd up to an additional 206 to 305 parking spaces to the Ridgewood Central Business District depending on what option officials choose.

A height comparison graphic of the proposed 49-foot tall garage has been posted to the village website.

One option would be 109,000 square feet and add 206 parking spaces to the downtown. Officials would bond $10.1 million, about $33,000 per space, for the 37-foot-tall facility. The tower would be more than 56 feet tall.

Another option would add 255 spaces at a cost per space of nearly $31,000. The 119-square-foot facility would cost $11 million in bonds. The facility would be 49 feet tall on South Broad Street and 37 feet tall on Hudson Street. The tower would be 68 feet tall.

A 136,000-square-foot option that would give a net gain of 305 spaces. The garage would cost $12 million in bonds for a per-space cost of $29,630. The tower would be more than 68 feet tall and the height to the top of the parking facility would be 49 feet.
