Ridgewood Police Officer Assaulted During Motor Vehicle Investigation
Patrolman Patrick Elwood was investigating a motor vehicle complaint on East Ridgewood Avenue when he was assaulted, police said.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — A police officer was assaulted during a motor vehicle investigation Aug. 25, authorities said.
Patrolman Patrick Elwood was investigating a motor vehicle complaint on East Ridgewood Avenue when someone who was not involved became agitated and aggressive toward him, police said.
The 28-year-old Franklin resident then assaulted Elwood and was arrested at the scene, police said. The person was taken to police headquarters and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, authorities said. The person was charged and released without bail pending a court date.
