Ridgewood Police Warn Of IRS Phone Scammer

Scammer says his name is Dennis Gary.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ - Police are reporting that a man who says he is from the U.S. Treasury Department is trying to scam village residents.

Several residents have received a phone call from a man calling himself as “Dennis Gary”. The caller requests residents residents call him back to avoid action from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), police said.

One of the phone numbers used in the scam is 303-479-3380, police said.

The IRS does not demand payments on the phone and will not call residents about tax debts owed.

If residents are targeted by phone scammers they should visit the Federal Trade Commission’s website at FTC.gov. The FTC offers an electronic scam alert service.
