Ridgewood Resident Charged With Assault, Purses Stolen From 2 Vehicles: Police

One of the vehicles was broken into at Graydon Pool, police said.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — A village resident was charged with simple assault following an investigation last month.

Maria Hatefi, 26, was processed at police headquarters, served with a criminal complaint and released with a pending court date, police said.

In related news, purses were taken from two vehicles recently, police said.

Police responded to the Graydon Pool parking lot earlier this month. A window on the vehicle was broken and purse left inside was taken, police said. The Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.

A River Edge resident reported to police on July 19 that someone entered her vehicle and stole her purse the day before while it was parked on North Maple Avenue, police said. The vehicle had no signs of damage or forced entry, police said.
