The Orpheus Club Men’s Chorus and the Ridgewood Symphony represent two of Ridgewood’s oldest cultural institutions. Founded in 1909, the Orpheus Club is currently comprised of about 50 singers from New York and New Jersey and is directed by John Palatucci. The chorus is known for its varied repertoire and collaborations with other area musical groups.

The Ridgewood Symphony attracts players from 48 different municipalities in Bergen, Passaic and Rockland counties. As one of the largest volunteer symphonies in the country, the RSO brings a wide variety of classical music to the region’s children, youth and their families. Each year the Orchestra sponsors “Festival Strings,” a middle school winter youth orchestra that is widely recognized as an outstanding music education event. The Ridgewood Symphony is led by Diane Wittry, who is in her second season as RSO Artistic Director and Conductor.
