Ridgewood Teen Charged With Aggravated Assault

A Ridgewood teenager was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly tried to stab a restaurant employee, Ridgewood police said.

Police responded at 4:51 p.m. to a report of a dispute in program in the back of Sushi X at 23 Chestnut St., authorities said.

An employee was injured bleeding from lacerations on their hand; the alleged victim told police they were assaulted and that the attacker tried to stab the victim with a pocket knife, police said.

The victim identified the attacker, Kevin Moises Portillo Campos, 19, of Ridgewood, who was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon. He was released pending an appearance in Ridgewood Municipal Court.

The victim was transported to the Valley Hospital Emergency Room, police said.
