WEATHER ALERT: Winter Storm Sparta Hits New Jersey Sunday, Monday Commute

All of New Jersey will either have snow, a wintry mix or freezing rain, according to The Weather Channel.

Get ready for one more Arctic blast.

Winter Storm Sparta is poised to bring a stripe of snow and freezing rain through the weekend in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, according to weather.com.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, saying periods of snow and/or wintry precipitation are a high likelihood Sunday afternoon into Monday morning, and again Tuesday evening.

Slippery travel is anticipated Sunday evening, when there is the potential for several inches of snow in North Jersey and northern Pennsylvania, changing to a bit of ice overnight.

A brief warm up and some rain on Wednesday could cause pockets of poor drainage flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

The Weather Channel (see photo) says much of North Jersey and norther Pennslvania will get snow, central New Jersey and Pennsylvania will get a wintry mix and southern New Jersey and Pennsylvania and the Jersey Shore will get freezing rain.

The jet stream will send a series of disturbances rippling between arctic cold and warmer air trying to push north. The first of these, Winter Storm Sparta, will spread a wintry mess through the Plains, Midwest and Northeast, according to weather.com.
