Local Deli Finds A New Home
Fair Winds Deli in Fair Haven relocated to a new store where they have the same friendly staff but a few new things in a brand new atmosphere.
Fair Winds Deli may have a new location, but they have the same great food and family atmosphere that keeps customers coming back for more.
"The people who work here are very unique," said employee Dave Ballatori. "We have a great relationship with our customers and we keep the regulars coming back."
Fair Winds is a family-run deli in Fair Haven. On August 4th, Fair Winds opened its new location at 798 River Road. Previously, the deli was located at 770 River Road in a smaller store.

"I had the opportunity to buy a new store," said Warren Adrahamsen, owner of Fair Winds. "The inside of the store is bigger, the parking lot is larger and I finally own the building where my deli is located."
The move from one store to another was a long process. It took the town two and a half years to okay the new deli location. After the final okay, it took another 11 months to physically move from one location to another. The deli closed its doors for only four days before the grand opening of the new store.

The interior design of the new Fair Winds was created by a local who knows all about decor. "Everything visual in this store was designed by Nicole Rice, owner of in Fair Haven," said Adrahamsen.
The new deli is a much larger space with more tables for customers. Fair Winds now offers ice cream and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Another new addition to the deli is prepared foods to-go such as their famous chicken cutlets.
Fair Winds offers a wide range of different foods. Besides prepared foods they sell many different combinations of sandwiches, fresh cooked turkey and roast beef and delicious baked goods.
An interesting service that Fair Winds offers is their account system. Regular customers can create a house account that is backed by a credit card. Instead of paying for their food at the time of purchase, they can add the cost to their house account and pay it later.
Since Fair Haven is such a close-knit town, Fair Winds works with the schools and provides lunch to some of the students. Any student with a house account can call in the morning and order their lunch. Fair Winds will then deliver the order to the student during their lunch period.
"A lot of the customers that come in are kids," Adrahamsen said. "We want to try and accommodate them. By delivering lunch to the schools, we maintain our regular customers and keep them coming back."
With a lot of the food prepared by Adrahamsen's mother, Fair Winds is a family businesses that specializes in making their customers feel at home. Fair Winds is open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week.
