Art educator Joy Ann Cabanos is offering two workshops at the Scotch Plains Public Library that will give you a chance to learn and apply basic origami techniques in a mindful, relaxed and fun environment.

You’re encouraged to sign up for both workshops, but you can also choose to attend one or the other.
In both workshops, you’ll learn some Origami history and explore the basic folds from which all origami figures are made.

  • In this first session,on Thursday, September 12 you’ll develop your origami skills, and practice as you learn to fold easy versions of a flower, a leaf and a butterfly. If time permits, you can complete several of these for a lovely bouquet you can share with family and friends.
  • In the second session on Thursday, September 26 (register here), you’ll learn to fold a modular fall leaf wreath—a perfect way to celebrate the start of the fall season If you attended the previous workshop, this will also be a great opportunity to practice and reinforce your foundational techniques.
  • **Registration is required. These programs are for adults (18+). Registration will be limited to Scotch Plains resident cardholders until September 5.
  • For more information or to register, go to www.scotlib.org, email library@scotlib.org or call (908) 322-5007 x 204. The Scotch Plains Public Library is located at 1927 Bartle Avenue.
