Man Killed In Union County Drive-By Shooting Identified

A man was killed and two others injured, including a 6-year-old girl, after three men drove up in a car and opened fire, police said.

The man who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Plainfield has been identified as Anthony Bowles, 24, of Plainfield, according to a report by NJ.com

The Friday shooting also wounded a 6-year-old girl while she was playing outside.

Three men drove up in a car and opened fire, according to WABC-TV. A 6-year-old and a 9-year-old were playing outside on a front porch when the bullets started flying, the report said.

The girl was shot in the leg, with the bullet passing through her body. “She was crying and scared. She was shaking really bad,” a witness told WABC-TV.

Union County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Mark Spivey said Bowles who was shot was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead. The girl was also taken to RWJUH, but her injuries were not life-threatening.

It is not clear what prompted the shooting. Authorities are still investigating.
