Mom Struck By Car In Union County Released From Hospital

The mother of a three year old who was killed when they were hit by a car crossing the street has been released from the hospital: police

PLAINFIELD, NJ — The mother who was hit by a car while crossing the street in Plainfield Wednesday has been released from the hospital, police report.

The mother had been critically injured and her three-year-old child was killedwhen they were hit by a when they were walking across Park Avenue at the intersection of West Second Street in Plainfield on Wednesday around 9 a.m.

"At this time, due to the age of the child killed and the grieving involving all, we will not release the names of anyone involved in this crash," North Plainfield police stated in a release. "We are respectfully asking members of the press to honor their request for privacy."

An investigation into the accident is still ongoing and once completed will be reviewed by the Union County Prosecutors Office to determine if any charges will be filed against the man driving the car.
