'October Big Day' at Trailside Nature & Science Center

Join us at Trailside Nature & Science Center on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 9:30am for one Big Day of birding! Trailside is located in the Watchung Reservation at 452 New Providence Road, Mountainside, NJ 07092.

October Big Day is the perfect opportunity to contribute to citizen science, enjoy nature, and connect with a local–and global– community of bird lovers.

Trailside staff will lead guided bird walks at 9:30am. There will be additional bird-centered activities for all ages during the morning!

Last October, nearly 36,332 people from 191 countries submitted checklists with eBird, demonstrating the power of birds to bring people together. Each year more and more participants join in this global celebration, how many people will contribute this year?

You’ll get to apply what you learned in our Birding for Biodiversity workshop, or if you’re new to birding, enjoy an introduction to the basics of this fun and rewarding activity.
You are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather, and to bring binoculars if you own them. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
