Join an online talk presented by the Salem Witch Museum entitled “Witches: Evolving Perceptions”, hosted by the Scotch Plains Public Library on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 7:00pm, via Zoom.

In this program, you will learn about the complex and fascinating evolution of the image of the witch, tracing this figure from the early modern period witch trials to the present day.
Today, the term “witch” evokes many different definitions and images. Despite the dark historical origins, most of us envision a witch as a cartoonish green-skinned woman flying astride a broomstick, or a beautiful, supernatural, pop-culture heroine. Yet those who practice Neopagan religions regard 'witch' as a sacred identity and view this word as a spiritual designation.
