4 Injured As Gas Line Explodes

Four people were injured Saturday when a natural gas line exploded and damaged a home in the Ironbound section. The explosion happened about 12:20 p.m. on Magazine Street.

Distracted Truck Driver Hits NJ Police Car

A South Brunswick police officer escaped injury Saturday when a tractor-trailer hit his car while he was on a traffic assignment, police said.

Police said the truck driver was distracted at the time of the crash and hit more than 50 road cones and an arrow sign board before hitting the patrol car.

Man Dies After SUV Hits Tree In Manchester

A Manchester Township man died Friday after his SUV hit a tree head on, police said.

Michael Martin was trying to turn from westbound Crestwood Parkway left onto Pinewald Keswick Road in a 2019 gray GMC Terrain when he lost control and ran onto the shoulder of northbound Pinewald Keswick Road and hit the tree, according to authorities.

60-Year-Old Seriously Injured In Stabbing

A 60-year-old man was stabbed and seriously injured early Saturday in Fairview, according to media reports.

The stabbing occurred about 1:30 a.m. on Grant Street. Officers arriving at the scene found the victim with wounds to his face, hands and legs, News 12 reported.

As of Sunday morning, he remained hospitalized in serious condition but was expected to survive.

Fire Breaks Out In Downtown South Orange

Firefighters from multiple departments responded Saturday afternoon to a blaze at an apartment building in South Orange, according to media reports.

The fire broke out at 51 E. South Orange Ave. Video from the scene showed a woman speaking with firefighters from her window as smoke filled the building, News 12 reported.

Mayor Sheena Collum urged residents to stay away from the area while emergency crews worked. South Orange Avenue was closed between Sloan Street and Scotland Road until further notice.

No injuries were reported, and all responding personnel were accounted for, officials said

Daily Show Host Stops By NJ Pizzeria

Daily Show Host Jon Stewart stopped by Brooklyn Square Pizza’s Shrewsbury location on Friday.

In an online video, pizzeria owner Peter Grippo thanked customers for stopping by and gave a special shoutout to Stewart for his visit.

According to the report, Stewart showed up after placing an online order and urged the staff at the Shrewsbury shop to give Grippo a call.
