'I Kissed A Girl' Singer In Belle Mead
Jill Sobule is best known for 'I Kissed a Girl' and 'Supermodel,' from the movie Clueless. See her Aug. 24 at Congregation Kehilat Shalom.

BELLE MEAD, NJ — On Thursday, August 24 at 7:30 p.m., singer-songwriter and social activist Jill Sobule will be performing at Congregation Kehilat Shalom in Belle Mead, NJ. Jill Sobule has performed with music legends including Neil Young, Billy Bragg, Cyndi Lauper and Warren Zevon and is best known for the songs “I Kissed a Girl” (the original) and “Supermodel,” which was featured in the movie Clueless. Jill’s songs, essays and poetry have been featured on NPR, The Huffington Post and more. She regularly performs at TED Conferences, house concerts and charity events nationwide. And now you can see her right here in Central New Jersey!
In the words of New York Times pop music critic Jon Pareles, “Jill Sobule can claim her place among the stellar New York singer-songwriters of the last decade. Topical, funny and more than a little poignant…grown-up music for an adolescent age.” New York City performing songwriter Carolann Solebello, founding member of Americana trio Red Molly and winner of the 2016 Director’s Choice Award at the 33rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, will open the show.
Half of the proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Teaching Tolerance project of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). SPLC is “dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society.” The Teaching Tolerance project distributes award-winning classroom documentaries, lesson plans and curricula free of charge to educators nationwide.
