Shakespeare With A Feminist Slant To Be Performed At High School In Middlesex County

Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools theater students have received scholarships and worked on professional productions.

Middlesex County students studying in a theater program will open their production of Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure” with a feminist slant later this month.

The play, part of Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools theater program, will open on March 19 on the East Brunswick campus.

Kimani Isaac, a junior from North Brunswick, senior Brett Temple of South Plainfield as Angelo and junior Hailey Turiello of East Brunswick have lead roles, according to a news release from the school.

Shows are scheduled for March 19 to 21, and March 26-28 at 7 p.m. in the theater on the school’s East Brunswick campus, 112 Rues Lane.

  • Kimani has been awarded a scholarship to attend a five-week summer program at Northwestern University. She was also cast in “Unconditional Love,” a music video produced by UNICEF.
  • She and Xavier Tippett were also accepted in the MCC Youth Theatre program in New York City.
  • Brett has been accepted into the Guthrie Bachelor of Fine Arts Acting Training Program at the University of Minnesota. He also has completed work on an upcoming feature film, “When the Moon Was Twice as Big.”
  • Senior Zachary Kellet was awarded a scholarship to attend the theater program at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
  • Sophomore Vaughn Broderick and junior Abigail McNulty appeared in “A Crime to Remember,” a production of cable TV channel Investigation Discovery.
  • Junior Rowan Clarke is a stage manager for the Pegasus 51 Performance Project production of “None of the Above” in New York City.
  • Sophomore Abree Roser, junior Madison Keith and senior Riley Stein are interns for the production.
  • Junior Alexis Plaza is a writer and director for the Mythic Project in New York.
