South Brunswick Approves 2 Large Affordable Housing Developments
The township's Planning Board has granted approval to an affordable housing development, and a mixed nursing and senior housing development.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A flurry of construction is coming to South Brunswick. The township’s Planning Board has granted approval to two major affordable housing projects that will help the township fulfill its court-ordered affordable housing obligations.
Jaynar Construction has received approval to build an age-restricted, affordable housing, and skilled nursing facility on the Wilson Farms site on Route 27 opposite Barbieri Court, Centraljersey.com reports. The South Brunswick Planning Board approved the project at its Oct. 20 meeting.
The project will consist of a total of 212 apartment units, Patch reported. One part of the development will be a 180-bed nursing facility and dialysis center, and a three-story apartment building with 111 rental units, 80% of which will be reserved for tenants 55 and older. Another lot is the site of a proposed three-story, 101-unit apartment with 100 age-restricted affordable housing units, a manager’s unit, and a club building.

The town has also approved 177 units of affordable housing on 10 acres of land on Henderson Road, near the Royal Oaks & East Garden Apartments. The apartments will be built in two phases: first, two, three-story buildings with 116 units, 63 of which will be reserved for very low to moderate income housing. Phase II will see the construction of two three-story buildings with 61 units, 44 of which will be reserved for very-low to moderate-income-family households.
Builders have said they plan to keep all development out of nearby woodlands, wetlands, and stream corridors.
