South Brunswick Student's Film Honored At Festival

Four short films by Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools were accepted by the 41st New Jersey Young Filmmakers Festival.

Four short films by Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools were accepted by the 41st New Jersey Young Filmmakers Festival.

According to a news release from the district:

The students are enrolled in the digital film program on the East Brunswick campus.

Their films were shown last month during an awards ceremony at Thomas Edison National Historical Park in West Orange.

“Just an Idea,” a four‐minute film by 11th-grader Deanna Rivera of Carteret, won first-place in the high school category.

“The American Dream” by 11th-graders Rivera, Rae Ann McMahon of South Amboy, and Justin DeMattico of Old Bridge received second prize in the high school category.

Two films received honorable mentions:

“Dress” by 10th‐grader Jasmine Gutierrez of Perth Amboy

“I Love Patty” by 10th-graders Diana Torres of Perth Amboy, Matteos Cabrera of Woodbridge, Claudia Martinez of Sayreville, Sierra Musselman of the Avenel section of Woodbridge and Molly Fade of South Brunswick, and 11th-grader Justin DeMattico.

The festival was sponsored by the Thomas A. Edison Media Arts Consortium, based at New Jersey City University in Jersey City.
