Weekly Total Of New COVID Cases In South Brunswick Declines

After a one-week spike, the town reported six new cases last week.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — After registering a significant spike last week, South Brunswick has reported a drop in weekly new COVID positive cases to single digits.

The town reported six new cases – three men and three women – between Sept. 13th and 20th.

For the week of Sep. 6-12, South Brunswick recorded the highest weekly increase in COVID-19 cases since May, with 17 people testing positive. Health officials attributed this spike to college-related cases.

“This week’s numbers are back in line with statistics for the past 14 weeks,” health officials said in a statement. The average age of people who tested positive is 40 years. None in the school-going age.

The total number of positive cases in South Brunswick is now 522. “This number reflects both residents and people living in long term care facilities in the Township,” officials said. There were no additional deaths connected to COVID.
