On September 20, the students at South Orange Middle school showed their support for the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irene by participating in "Hat Day for Hurricane Relief."

Miss Hannen's 7th grade math classes talked about the destruction and great loss suffered by the people of Texas and Florida and felt we should be doing something to help those affected by these hurricanes. One student noted that they "saw some of the destruction on TV, and it's definitely way worse in person, so we should really be doing something to help."

The classes decided to have a "Hat Day" where students donated one dollar to get a sticker. Students could then wear their favorite hat (usually not allowed in school) for the entire day on Wednesday.
