South Orange Wants It Sunday (patch.com) — South Orange residents are invited to donate gently used bicycles and portable sewing machines this Sunday at the BCB parking lot on Valley Street, in a drive sponsored by the Maplewood Rotary Club. Items will be refurbished for use in developing countries, and donors will receive tax-deductible receipts, making it an easy way for locals to clear space and support a global cause.
   

• Six Months After Downtown Fire, Gladys Nails Plans to Return to South Orange (villagegreennj.com) — Gladys Nail Salon is set to reopen in South Orange this October at 154 Valley Street, returning six months after the downtown fire that destroyed its former location. The move brings another familiar business back to the village center, where Ambiance Jewelers has already reopened and the affected buildings have been demolished and sidewalks restored.
   

• Sunrise Day Camp: A Place Where Kids With Cancer Can Just Be Kids (villagegreennj.com) — A South Orange teen counselor describes how Sunrise Day Camp in Pearl River gives children with cancer and their siblings a free, joy-filled summer, complete with transportation from North Jersey. Because bus routes follow where campers live, Sunrise will add a Maplewood–South Orange pickup if enough local families enroll, and residents are encouraged to support fundraising that keeps the program free.
