Professor, Assemblywoman Talk Integration In South Orange
Elise Boddie and Assemblywoman Mila Jasey will discuss school integration and equity in Maplewood/South Orange.

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - The history of integration in Maplewood/South Orange will collide with the issue of equity in education when Rutgers Professor Elise Bodie and Assemblywoman Mila Jasey make their presentation to the community on Tuesday.
The program is being sponsored by South Orange/Maplewood Coalition on race and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Montrose School Auditorium at 365 Clark Street.
According to organizers, New Jersey ranks as one of the best public education systems in the country and yet there are wide disparities for students that are connected to race, place, and socio-economic status.

Speakers Jasey and Boddie will discuss school integration efforts in the district over the last 30 years as well as in the region and the state—achievements, failures, visions for the near future.
The meeting is open to the public and questions and ideas for intentional integration and achieving equity are encouraged.
