Seton Hall Invites Community to Christmas at the Hall Tonight

Seton Hall University presents its annual tree lighting on its campus tonight.  All of the community is invited to attend the event.

At 5 p.m. a Mass at the Chapel of Immaculate Conception will be held.  Following the mass will be a Crèche blessing.

At 6 p.m. will be the actual tree lighting.  The tree is located on the green in the center of campus.  Accompanying the lighting will be the campus choirs singing Christmas carols. 

Class of ’68 member Robert Windrem will be joining Seton Hall President Gabriel Esteban in pulling the switch to light the tree.  Windrem is a Senior Investigative Producer for NBC News and is still involved at Seton Hall as a member of the Communications Advisory Board, University Advisory Council and WSOU Advisory Council.

It is reported that the tree is a 55 foot Norway spruce.  430 strands of lights were used, bringing the grand total of lights to 43,000.

The first 500 attendees will receive a blue and white Santa hat.  Also, hot apple cider, caramel corn, roasted nuts, and other treats will be served.

At 7:30 p.m. will be the reading of the Night Before Christmas in the Main Lounge of the University Center.

The university is asking that guests to the event help spread the season’s cheer by donating unwrapped toys for infants and children.  There will be distribution sites throughout the area as well as to a parish in Appalachia.
