Seton Hall Relay for Life

The 8th annual Seton Hall University Relay for
Life will take place from 5 p.m. Fri., April 11 to 5 a.m. Sat., April 12, 2014
at the Richie Regan Fieldhouse on the South Orange, N.J. campus.  It is sponsored by Colleges against
Cancer.  More than 800 people, including
75 teams, are expected to camp-out and walk around a track overnight to raise
money for the American Cancer Society.
Last year, the Relay for Life raised more than $66,000 and the
fundraising goal for this year is $70,000.

The theme this year for the family-friendly
event is a luau.  There will be food,
games and activities such as a limbo contest, hypnotist, photo booth and
caricaturist.  Another feature is
luminaria which can be purchased and personalized with a name, photo, message
or drawing in memory or honor of a friend or loved one who has been affected by
cancer, or to honor a Relay participant.   A special survivor’s lap for will kick off
the event.  Cancer survivors will walk
together for the first lap while the Relay’s other participants line the track
and cheer them on.

“We hold this event on campus so that someday
people won’t ever have to hear the words, ‘You have cancer,’” said Leigha
Kalman, Relay for Life chair.
