Seton Hall to Host 18th Annual Women's Conference

The March 30 conference will feature a keynote address by Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes.

Seton Hall University alumna and Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes will deliver the keynote address at Seton Hall University 18th annual women’s conference, “Women’s Education – Women’s Empowerment,” concluding the University’s month-long celebration on Friday, March 30, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Bishop Dougherty University Center on the campus of Seton Hall.

The public is invited to join an estimated 200 members of the Seton Hall community to pay tribute to the valiant struggle waged by women to receive the same educational opportunities as men. The event also celebrates the 40th anniversary of Title IX and the 75th anniversary of women at Seton Hall University.

Passaic County Prosecutor Valdes is the first Latina county prosecutor in New Jersey, the first woman prosecutor in Passaic County and the first lead prosecutor of Dominican ancestry in the United States. She has dedicated her career to government service and public safety, and has been named, “One of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States” by Hispanic Business Magazine.

Mayor Janice Kovach, of Clinton, NJ, is among the workshop presenters. Workshop topics ranges from how college students are addressing the issue of human trafficking to what women are telling others about our character via social media to the role of women in transforming 21st century healthcare and learning how to live a healthier, less stressful life. Workshops are presented by Seton Hall University faculty, administrators, students and community members.
