South Orange Mail Carrier Robbed At Gunpoint: Police

A mail carrier in South Orange was robbed of several packages and mail at gunpoint, police said.

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — A mail carrier in South Orange was robbed of several packages and mail at gunpoint while working on Radel Terrace around 2:10 p.m. on Friday, authorities said.

According to the South Orange Police Department, the mail carrier and multiple witnesses told officers that two men got out of a tan-colored vehicle and approached the postal worker with a black revolver. They then allegedly stole “a large amount of mail and packages” out of the worker’s truck, threw the items in the back seat of their car and fled north on Ward Place.

Witnesses and the victim described the suspects as males about 20-years-old. One of the suspects was reportedly wearing a hoodie, police said.

A short time after the alleged robbery, the Irvington Police Department contacted their South Orange peers and informed them that they had stopped the suspected getaway vehicle and arrested two juveniles who fit witness descriptions.

South Orange detectives are conducting an investigation into the incident, police said.
