South Orange, Maplewood Rank High On ‘Best Schools’ List

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — If you’ve got kids going to public school in the South Orange-Maplewood Public School District, you've chosen wisely as a parent, according to a recent study.

Niche.com recently released its annual rankings of the best school districts in the country, listing the SOMA Public School District at #44 in New Jersey.

Other Essex County school districts to place on the top #100 list in New Jersey included Millburn, Livingston, Montclair, Verona, West Orange, Bloomfield, the West Essex Regional School District in North Caldwell and the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District.

Niche’s data for its K-12 school district rankings comes from various sources, including the U.S. Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics and the Civil Rights Data Collection.
