South Orange Synagogue Bakes 400 Muffins For Food Pantry

It was "muffin madness" for religious school students at TSTI in South Orange, who baked more than 400 pastries for a local food pantry.

Forget about March Madness. For the religious school students at Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel (TSTI) in South Orange, it was more like muffin madness with an after-class Muffin Marathon to benefit the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges (IFPO).

Students and their families recently gathered in the synagogue kitchen to bake more than 400 muffins, decorate cards and wrap silverware for clients of the IFPO.

TSTI is one of four area houses of worship that supports the food pantry, which serves residents of Orange and East Orange who are facing food insecurity.

Supporting the IFPO is a major community outreach initiative for TSTI, with participants of all ages helping to stock shelves, assist clients, and prepare and serve meals and gifts of cheer throughout the year.
