Turnover Rummage Sale Donation Dates Begin

The Turnover Sale, one of New Jersey’s legendary rummage sales, accepts donations beginning Friday, June 13, 2014.  The sale is located at Morrow Church, 600 Ridgewood Road, Maplewood NJ, MorrowChurch.org, 973 763 7676.  Sponsored by the United Methodist Women to benefit numerous local charities, sale donations are tax-deductible (depending on individual tax situations).  Plus, donating goods to be used by others is the original recycling.

The sale begins on July 1 and continues until July 17. (See dates below.)

The Turnover Sale marks its 81st year in 2014, and it was described in the New Jersey Monthly magazine (http://njmonthly.com/articles/style-shopping/rummaging-around-new-jersey.html) as a place to go for “savvy shoppers.”  Two floors of the church and an outside tent are filled with merchandise that is priced to sell quickly.   Jewelry, furniture and clothes for the entire family draw shoppers from across the state and from Manhattan. However, luggage, sporting goods, and electronics are can’t-beat bargains.

The sale relies on a team of volunteers, and all proceeds benefit local organizations.  In past year, the Turnover Sale has purchased defibrillators and supplies for a shelter.  Even donated goods that don’t sell are passed along to a cadre of agencies.  Unsold items are donated to Goodwill Industries, The Methodist Home in Ocean Grove, the Burn Center in Newark, American Rescue Workers, CUMAC, PCCI, Habitat, Essex County Family Violence and more.

The grand opening is July 1st from 7 – 9pm.

The last day of the sale is Thursday – July 17th (9am – 12pm)

Drop off your quality donations June 16th through July 12th (not during sale dates).
