2 Springfield Bomb Threats Part Of National Hoax: Police
These threats appear to be similar to other threats made across Union County, New Jersey and nationwide, Springfield Lt. Jon Rachel said.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Bomb threats were made at two locations in Springfield through email on Thursday that appear to be connected to similar incidents nationwide.
The Springfield threats were received by email at two public locations in the township between 1 and 2 p.m, Springfield Lt. Jon Rachel said.
Rachel would not disclose the exact location of the threats.

"The emails sent out were very generic in nature and weren't specifying really anything at either location," Rachel said. "It turns out other facilities in Union County and New Jersey and nationwide also got exactly the same emails."
Along with the Springfield Police Department, Springfield Fire Department, Union County Police Bomb Squad and K-9 all responded. The threats were determined to be unfounded.

"At this time, we are advising the community that there is no credible threat associated with these emails, and there is no reason to be alarmed by the heightened police presence," Springfield Police said.
The emails are being thoroughly investigated by multiple law enforcement agencies.
In Union County, a bomb threat was also reported at Linden High School on Thursday morning (See Related: Linden High School Cleared After 2nd Bomb Threat In 1 Week).
In Bergen County Fair Lawn Middle School in Bergen County as well. (See Related: Fair Lawn Middle School Evacuated Following Bomb Threat: Police)
Bomb threats were also made across the country Thursday, including in several cities and at universities. In Connecticut, several schools and businesses were targeted.
In Massachusetts, State Police were responding to a series of bomb threats that were sent by email to businesses.
Bomb threats were also reported in New York City, Chicago and beyond.
