Springfield Republican Primary Results

Familiar faces and surprising names.

Ron Paul and Rick Santorum have fans in Springfield. While presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney took over 360 votes in the Township’s Republican primary, Paul and Santorum also put some numbers on the board. 

Paul drew 36 votes and Santorum garnered 27 in the Township presidential race. Paul and Santorum also drew votes in the race for delegates at large, with 21 pulling the lever for Paul and 18 for Santorum. Newt Gingrich received 10 votes and the wide majority of 301 went for the Union County Republican Committee.

Joe Kyrillos, who was , took the most Springfield votes in the race for Senate, drawing 327 votes. David Douglas Brown, his closest competition, received 58. Leonard Lance, a regular visitor to Springfield, bested David Larson 318 to 116.

On the local level, incumbent Township Committee members Marc Krauss and Jerry Fernandez drew 384 and 370 respective votes with two voters opting for personal choice. Krauss and Fernandez were running unopposed for their nominations. They will face  in the general election.
