Know your Hammocks: Hangin' Out and Hangin' In
Hammocks are iconic symbols of summertime relaxation, and now medical science is backing what millions of people worldwide have known for centuries: hammock sleep is beneficial to your health.
Summer's here and the time is right for dancing in the streets, or just swaying to the beat in your favorite summertime swing, the hammock. While relaxing in a hammock is heavenly, I've recently discovered there are some major health benefits associated with sleeping in them, as well.
Lucky for me, the two giant oak trees in my backyard are perfectly spaced and aligned for hammock hanging. Although I have a traditional rope hammock and have woken up from peaceful slumber with a waffle pattern on my skin, there are many other options. You seriously might want to consider hanging a hammock indoors once you read more about the health benefits of hammock sleep.
Trek Light Gear makes a great travel hammock. Made from durable lightweight nylon, this hammock travels well and sets up easily. Bring it camping or to the office for a nap. Comes in a light weight backpack.Designed and made in the U.K., Le Beanock takes the comfort of the 60's designed classic beanbag and swings it from the ceiling to create the ultimate relaxation and chill-out zone. Designed for indoor/outdoor use, the Hammy is equally comfortable in living rooms, on rooftops, in grassy meadows or lounging poolside. For me, the Hammy is missing a crucial component-the wonderful hammock 'swing'. Tentsile combines the comfort and versatility of a hammock with the multi person occupancy and shelter of a tent. The unique portable structure employs tension forces to provide usable space, suspended above the ground and protected from flood, sand storms, earth tremors, cold, wet or lumpy ground, debris or contamination as well as wildlife, including insects, snakes and Zombies. It can be hung as low as a couple feet away from the ground or up high for the more adventurous. A rope ladder is included for entry and exit.
