Dr. Alan Thomas joins Board of Enright Melanoma Foundation

Alan E. Thomas, MD, FAAP joins Summit-based nonprofit organization Enright Melanoma Foundation Board of Trustees

The Enright Melanoma Foundation, a Summit-based nonprofit organization with a mission to raise sun safety awareness, welcomes Dr. Alan Thomas to their Board of Trustees.

Dr. Alan Thomas has been in practice at Summit Medical Group since 1996, where he practices Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.

Dr. Thomas completed a dual residency in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Overlook Hospital, where he was Chief Resident in 1995-96. He feels blessed to have helped Dr. Joseph Enright (who the nonprofit organization was named for) care for his hospitalized patients during his residency at Overlook.

Dr. Thomas graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Furman University in South Carolina. Prior to medical school, he was an EMT in his hometown of Chatham. He then graduated Summa Cum Laude from Universidad Central del Caribe, in Bayamon, PR, USA.

He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Since 2010, he has been named 5 times by his fellow physicians in New Jersey Monthly’s “Top Doctors” list, and by his parents and patients yearly for the past several years in New Jersey Family “NJ’s Favorite Kids Docs” listing. He served on the Board of Directors for Summit Medical Group for eight years.

Dr. Thomas’ primary focus is on safety and preventative medicine. He has spoken about gun safety as a panelist for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. He also has a daily passion for counseling his patients in the prevention of melanoma, having lost both his mother and his father-in-law to this terrible disease.
