New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble's Fourth Summer in Summit

Renowned Faculty Mentors Dancers at Summer Dance Intensive, Young Dancers Program and More!

“One of New Jersey’s best-kept cultural secrets.” (Courier News)

SUMMIT, NJ – January 28, 2018 – New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble (NJDTE)’s innovative Summer Dance Intensive, Young Dancers Program and more will be held at the company’s state-of-the-art facility in downtown Summit, NJ from June 25-August 3, 2018.

The programs are designed for serious aspiring dancers ages 5-18, and concentrate on strengthening and developing the dancer’s technique and artistic expression. At the Summer Dance Intensive (SDI), held July 16-August 3 for ages 13-18, daily classes include ballet, pointe, modern and contemporary dance, as well as Pilates, yoga, floor barre, dance history, anatomy, and dance psychology. Students learn repertory works by world-class choreographers and collaborate with cutting-edge choreographers to make new works for the Ensemble, with additional summer performance opportunities, including NJDTE’s outdoor performance series in collaboration with Reeves-Reed Arboretum, INKUBATE®.

The inspiration flows both ways at NJDTE, as modern faculty member and former Associate Artistic Director of Parsons Dance Elizabeth Koeppen-Kalosieh explains. “Working with the NJDTE dancers is always a wonderful experience. They are highly dedicated and so eager to learn! In addition to watching them work so hard, it is also incredibly satisfying to see them having so much fun."

In addition to SDI, NJDTE offers specialized summer intensive programming for a range of ages and ability levels. NJDTE’s popular Young Dancers Program (YDP) for dancers ages 7-12 will be held June 25-July 13, 2018 (no classes on July 4). Auditions will be held Saturdays and Sundays, February 3 & 4 and March 3 & 4, 2018 at NJDTE.
